On June nineteenth 2026 I went to the fossa magma museum in Itoigawa at first I thought it looked like any other ordinary museum , but when I took my first step into that museum, I saw all kinds of rocks and most of them were jade stones or stones picked from different parts of Itoigawa city, and after looking at the stones I felt very excited to learn more about Itoigawa's geological history.

After that I went into a room with my classmates and listened to a presentation about Itoigawa's famous fossa magma, and how it made Japan from two separated islands into one country. After the presentation finished , my friends and I looked around the rest of the museum and saw four rooms with different themes.

The first room had all kinds of jade stones which left me fascinated about green jade stones.
The second room had fossils and had stones which were formed by volcanic eruptions.
The third and fourth room had history about fossa magma and had history all the way back to the Jurassic era.

And the fifth and final room had rare earth minerals and crystals such as pyrite and beryl and of course gold.
As time ran out I went to the gift shop and saw jade stones being made into pendants which I thought was cool.

When my classmates and I left the building , I thought I might go back one more time to build my interest in Itoigawa's geography.

2026年6月19日、私は糸魚川市の化石博物館に行きました。最初は普通の博物館のように見えましたが、一歩足を踏み入れると、あらゆる種類の岩石が目に飛び込んできました。そのほとんどは翡翠や糸魚川市内の様々な場所から集められた石でした。それらの石を見て、糸魚川の地質史についてもっと知りたいという気持ちが強くなりました。

その後、クラスメートと一緒に部屋に入り、糸魚川の有名な化石について、そしてそれがどのようにして日本を二つの島から一つの国へと変えたのかについてのプレゼンテーションを聞きました。プレゼンテーションが終わると、私たちは博物館の残りの部分を見て回り、それぞれ異なるテーマの4つの部屋を見ました。

最初の部屋にはあらゆる種類の翡翠が展示されていて、特に緑色の翡翠に魅了されました。

2番目の部屋には化石や火山噴火によって形成された石が展示されていました。

3番目と4番目の部屋には、フォッサマグマに関する歴史が展示されており、ジュラ紀まで遡る歴史が紹介されていました。

そして5番目、最後の部屋には、黄鉄鉱や緑柱石といった希少な鉱物や結晶、そしてもちろん金が展示されていました。

時間が迫ってきたので、お土産屋さんに行ってみると、翡翠がペンダントに加工されているのが見えて、とても素敵だと思いました。

クラスメートたちと建物を出た後、糸魚川の地理学への興味を深めるために、もう一度訪れてみようかなと思いました。
